The contract involves the design and construction of three (3) main systems namely, airfield facilities, tunnels and detention ponds. The airfield facilities with two (2) runways of 4.85km (East Runway) and 4.25km (West Runway) each, three (3) parallel taxiway, aircraft parking aprons (PCC), drainage works, airfield ground lighting facilities including approach lighting system on the sea, four (4) substations, (2) access tunnels, aircraft wash facilities, aircraft blast deflectors, explosion bunkers and other related facilities, are designed to cater for the latest large body aircrafts.
The structure of the 1km dual three (3) lane midfield access tunnel consists of twin cells with a dimension of 20m by 5.5m per cell. It was constructed with complete mechanical and electrical facilities for power, communication and jet fan ventilation system. There are four (4) detention ponds which includes all the necessary power supply and pump station system.
WCT undertakes 49% of total works.
